Job summary

Action for Children is recruiting a Team Leader for residential care in London. You will oversee shifts, supervise staff, and work with a multi-disciplinary team to provide safe, nurturing homes for young people in Hackney and surrounding areas.

The role involves developing care plans, safeguarding responsibilities, and deputising for the Registered Manager to ensure smooth day-to-day operations of the homes.

Qualifications

• Level 3 QCF Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) is essential.
• Experience in residential childcare settings and safeguarding knowledge is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Leading shifts and supervising Residential Support Workers.
• Developing care plans and identifying agreed outcomes.
• Safeguarding of young people and advocacy for their wellbeing.
• Deputising for the Registered Manager in their absence.

A bit about our new homes.

We are recruiting Team Leader's for 2 new homes one in London Fields, Hackney, which will provide a home for two young people and one in Stamford Hill that will provide a home for 4 young people.

Action for Children are working in close partnership with the London Borough of Hackney to develop and run two new therapeutic children's homes within the borough.

This exciting new development will offer stable, safe, and loving homes which enable children and young people to stay in Hackney, helping them to grow up supported and happy, with the chance to maintain and build on the relationships that matter to them the most.

These are not a children's homes, but homes that belong to our children.

What you do could make a difference

This is much more than a Team Leader role - you will be part of a team developing and launching of our children's new home. We want you to help to build the team and put everything in place to lay a sound foundation and secure OFSTED registration.

Through innovative care and support, we will provide a safe, nurturing environment for children, in the London Borough of Hackney.

Working closely with the Registered Manager, you'll deputise in their absence and lead a team of Residential Support Workers, setting the tone for a positive, supportive, and child-centred home. You'll help create a space that feels safe, fun, and welcoming, while consistently maintaining high standards of care and practice.

As a Team Leader you will work with the Registered Manager to ensure smooth day to day running of the home as part of a multi-disciplinary team ensuring that the young people living with us are in the safe and supporting environment required to nurture their needs.

• Leading shifts and supervising staff
• Link working with young people.
• Developing care plans and identifying agreed outcomes.
• Responsible for the safeguarding of young people.
• Being an advocate for the wellbeing of the young people who live with us.

• Level 3 QCF Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) is essential.
• We're looking for someone who will support Hackney's Children and Families Service and Action for Children's commitment to eradicating systemic racism, discrimination, injustice, making anti-racism a foundation of their practice.
• You will understand the cultural, societal and ideological forces that shape a child's development.
