Job summary

Action for Children in Bath is seeking a Residential Support Worker to provide safe, nurturing care for children and young people. You will deliver personalised support, guidance, and advocacy to help them grow and stay healthy.

You will engage in activities, assist with daily routines, and help young people develop essential life skills such as cooking and budgeting while prioritising safeguarding and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children and young people is desirable.
• Willing to complete Level 3 Residential Childcare within 2 years of starting.
• Excellent communication and empathy for young people.

Responsibilities

• Getting involved in lots of activities both within the project and in the community.
• Assisting with personal care and daily routines of the young people.
• Supporting young people to achieve positive outcomes.
• Safeguarding young people.
• Helping coach young people to develop essential life skills such as cooking, cleaning, and money matters.

Job description

Role: Residential Support Worker.

Salary: £26,999.00 per annum (pro-rata)

Location: Bath, Somerset, Southwest England.

Contract/Hours: Permanent Part-time 12 hours week Waking Night 21.30 to 07.30 with 2 hours for meetings/admin.

There will be more scope to work more hours as of 1st April 2027.

Ideally you will:

• Understand how to engage with young people.
• Have a positive approach and ‘can do' attitude.
• Ability to work on your own or as part of a team.
• Be ready to complete a level 3 in Residential Childcare within 2 years of commencing employment with us, full support will be provided.
