Barnardo's is recruiting a Logistics Team Leader to remotely manage a team of drivers, ensuring safe, efficient movement of stock between depots, shops and collection points. The role is home-based with weekly site visits and live within Wiltshire, west Berkshire, Hampshire or Oxfordshire.
You will lead the team, monitor routes, maintain compliance, manage welfare, and drive cohesion while reporting performance and maintaining service standards in a charity setting.
Logistics Team Leader
Reports to: Logistics Manager
Location: Hybrid working (home base with weekly travel). Successful candidate should live within Wiltshire, west Berkshire, Hampshire or Oxfordshire
Direct Reports: Average of15-20 Drivers
To remotely manage and coordinate a team of drivers, ensuring the safe, efficient and compliant movement of stock between retail shops, depots and other collection points.
The Team Leader provides strong lines of communication and welfare support to their team of remote working drivers. Building a high performing Team where excellent service standards and operational efficiency are maintained.
Report breakdowns, manage repairs and hire vehicles using the appropriate support platforms. Liaise with stakeholders, reportingany adverse service impacts to their daily route plans, and maintain smooth operations within their service.
Provide weekend cover on a roster basis
Ensure prompt reporting of vehicle defects, reducing costs to the business and maintaining Good Stewardship of the Charities funds
Complete and manage driver sickness and absence
Identify driver training requirements and provide a platform for this to be delivered.
This is an admin-based role where you will work from home around 3 days per week and 2 days will be spent conducting on site visits with individual drivers.
Previous delivery driver experience is NOT required, the role would be suitable to both someone with strong leadership and people management experience or a current driver who wishes to pursue progression into a leadership role. All candidates will be expected to be computer literate, although training will be given on relevant IT platforms.
