Job description

We are seeking an experienced and inspiring Senior Clinical Educator to lead clinical education and practice development across Womens Services at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. Based cross-city, you will develop registered, unregistered and medical colleagues; support educators, mentors, assessors and trainers; and help ensure learning environments deliver safe, evidence-based and compassionate care. You will combine visible clinical leadership with excellent teaching, coaching and quality-improvement skills. Working with matrons, clinical leaders and multidisciplinary teams, you will shape education programmes, strengthen competency and preceptorship pathways, use audit and feedback to improve practice, and support staff to reach their full potential., The job holder will play a lead role in ensuring the development of clinical staff both registered, unregistered and medical. The job holder will enable the development of clinical practice mentors, assessors and key trainers, providing supervision through on-site support and Trustwide continuous professional development activities. The post holder will be responsible for leading clinical education and associated resources in their designated clinical areas. The successful candidate will provide a high standard of education. The job holder will support the assessment of the quality of clinical and other practice learning environments, and implement interventions for improvement. The job holder will support mentors and assessors and ensure clinical professional development for preceptor ship and other role developments. They will enhance the quality of care delivery from both the registered and unregistered workforce. The post holder may be line managing a junior clinical educator depending on the clinical service unit.   • Current professional registration as a Midwife, with degree-level qualification.
  • A recognised teaching and assessing qualification and evidence of continued professional development.
  • Significant post-registration experience, including clinical leadership at Band 6 or equivalent.
  • Strong specialty knowledge and the ability to model evidence-based, compassionate practice.
  • Experience of designing, delivering and evaluating education in formal and workplace settings.
  • Ability to identify learning needs and support staff to achieve and maintain clinical competencies.
  • Excellent leadership, coaching, communication and team-working skills.
  • Experience of clinical audit, quality improvement, service development or change management.
  • Confidence in providing constructive feedback and supporting performance improvement sensitively.
  • Strong organisation, prioritisation and digital skills, with the ability to work across sites and professions.
