Job summary

Career Makers Inc. is looking for an experienced Children's Residential Team Leader to join our Salford home, overseeing day-to-day operations and guiding a dedicated care team. You will ensure safe, person-centred support for young people aged 8-18 and lead shifts with confidence.

The role requires strong safeguarding knowledge, calm decision-making, and excellent communication to maintain a safe, homely environment. Full UK driving licence preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in children's residential care.
• Level 3 qualification in Residential Childcare or equivalent.
• Aged 21+.
• Strong leadership and decision-making under pressure.
• Full UK driving licence preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support daily routines, activities and appointments.
• Build positive relationships with young people and staff.
• Provide emotional support and act as a positive role model.
• Lead the residential care team and support staff.
• Assist the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager with running the home.
• Support staff with day-to-day practice and decision making.
• Maintain a safe, homely environment and safeguarding practices.
• Ensure care is delivered in line with safeguarding and Ofsted requirements.
• Take responsibility for the home in the absence of senior management.

Children's Residential Team Leader

Location: Salford, Manchester

Salary: £14.21 per hour + £30 sleep-in allowance

Hours: Full-time, permanent

Shifts: Long days with sleep-ins

We are recruiting for an experienced Children's Residential Team Leader to join a residential home supporting young people aged 8-18.

This is a hands‑on role where you will support the day‑to‑day running of the home, provide guidance to the staff team and ensure young people receive safe, consistent and person‑centred care.

Key responsibilities:

• Supporting young people with their daily routines, activities and appointments
• Building positive and trusting relationships
• Providing emotional support and acting as a positive role model
• Supporting and leading the residential care team
• Assisting the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager with the running of the home
• Supporting staff with day‑to‑day practice and decision making
• Helping maintain a safe, positive and homely environment
• Ensuring care is delivered in line with safeguarding and Ofsted requirements
• Taking responsibility for the home in the absence of senior management

About you:

• Previous experience working within children's residential care
• Ideally hold a Level 3 qualification in Residential Childcare or equivalent
• Aged 21+
• Confident supporting and leading a team
• Caring, resilient and reliable
• Able to remain calm and make appropriate decisions in challenging situations
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

A full UK driving licence is preferred.
