Job summary

SUEZ is seeking a proactive first line supervisor to support on-site teams, ensuring daily production targets are met while maintaining strict safety standards. You will assist site supervisors with day-to-day management and drive improvements in efficiency and lean practices.

You will lead toolbox talks, audits, inductions and training, maintain logs, perform 5’s and SIM observations, and support performance management while upholding health, safety and environmental commitments.

Qualifications

  • Must be self-motivated and able to work as part of a team.
  • Flexible to provide cover and overtime as required.
  • Expected to achieve IOSH Managing Safely Qualification or hold it already.
  • Must hold mobile plant licences and be computer literate.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain shift logs and provide daily feedback on performance.
  • Carry out toolbox talks for safe systems and safety alerts.
  • Assist supervisors with weekly audits, action plans and corrective actions.
  • Assist with inductions, briefings and training of employees.
  • Support day-to-day performance management of staff.
  • Carry out waste acceptance checks and material rejections per contract.
  • Ensure segregation of recyclable materials at the facility.
  • Oversee housekeeping and safe use of equipment; report defects.
  • Promote health and safety-focused operations and lean culture.
  • Conduct 5’s audits and SIM observations to reinforce safety culture.

Job description

What will I be doing?

You’ll make sure that SUEZ complies fully with its legal duties in respect of the health, safety and welfare of its employees, as well as perform any other duties that are reasonably requested, within the scope of the job role. You will assist site supervisors with the day to day management ofthe team on site,ensuring daily production targets are achieved and production time is maximised at the facility.

This will involve:

  • Maintaining shift logs and providing daily feedback on performance to teams.
  • Carry out toolbox talks for safe systems and safety alerts.
  • Assist supervisors with weekly audits, action plans and oversee corrective actions.
  • Assist supervisors with employee inductions, briefings and training.
  • Assist supervisors with the day to day performance management of employees.
  • Carry out waste acceptance checks on incoming material and carry out rejections as required in line with that specific customers contract.
  • Ensure the segregation of all recyclable materials is maximised at the facility.
  • Control housekeeping activities and ensure all are carried out safely; conforming to the safe systems of work and company policies.
  • Promote an operating process that keeps focus on health and safety.
  • Ensure all work equipment within the area is used and maintained in a safe manner, reporting all defects are reported and a high standard of housekeeping is maintained.
  • Carry out 5’s audits and SIM observations to promote and maintain the safety & lean culture on site.

Youmust be self-motivated and be able to work as part of a team. This is an ideal opportunity for any employee who is interested in gaining experience in a first line management role andkeen to progress and develop their personnel skills.

You’ll also need:

  • A flexible approach to work, as you may be expected to provide cover and work overtime, as required
  • You will either already hold or be expected to achieve the IOSH Managing Safely Qualification
  • Tohold mobile plant licenses and be computer literate.
