Smart Solutions are currently recruiting for an experienced Team Leader to join our successful client based in the Musselburgh, Carberry, EH21 area. Our client is one of the largest, independent skip hire and commercial waste management companies.

Due to the site location, reliable transport is advisable.

Team Leader - Duties & Responsibilities

The right candidate must have experience working in a similar role or within a waste environment. We are looking for someone with enthusiasm and excellent communication skills. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Assist and monitor the achievement of operating targets while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and environmental awareness within the site.
• Understand all the risks and hazards associated with the tasks performed.
• Overall control of employees (pickers, banksmen, machine operators, maintenance, drivers, labourers).
• Monitor staff presence and productivity; check on staff regularly, ensure they are working safely and efficiently, and report any concerns.

Team Leader - Person Specification

• Previous experience in a similar environment is essential.
• Act as the first point of contact for queries, concerns, or issues during the shift.
• Participate in morning meetings or briefings and communicate relevant information to teams.
• Take responsibility for end-of-shift walkarounds – tidy areas, turn lights off, return keys, etc.
• Be reactive to abnormalities.
• Supportive to colleagues.
