Job summary

EMED Group in Cambridge (with base support in Huntingdon) seeks a Team Leader to support Ambulance Care Assistants and oversee contract performance, staffing, conduct and quality standards. The role involves on-call duties and coordinating patient transport services to uphold high patient care values.

You will lead, train, and assess staff, ensuring compliance and efficient service delivery across bases, with a focus on patient care and safety.

Qualifications

  • Full UK manual driving licence.
  • Experience in a highly regulated healthcare logistics environment is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Strong organisational and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Capable of coaching and guiding others.
  • Ability to maintain composure and use initiative under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver excellent customer service by ensuring prompt departure of Ambulance Care Assistants from base.
  • Assist Compliance Team with daily, weekly and monthly Health and Safety base checks to ensure compliance.
  • Liaise with Fleet supervisor to ensure vehicles are roadworthy and properly maintained.
  • Keep employee data accurate for payroll and annual leave records.
  • Support Contract Manager with KPI delivery and process improvement ideas.
  • Conduct probationary reviews with Ambulance Care Assistants per policy.
  • Deliver Annual Skills Development training and driving assessments as required.

Job description

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Team Leader to join our team based in Cambridge and also provide support to our Huntingdon base. The role of the Team Leader is to to support the Ambulance Care Assistants in the successful completion of their role and assist with contract performance, staffing, conduct and quality and standards. Patient care will be at the forefront of your mind at all times and deliver these values to the team. The Team Leader will assist on the road with the transportation of patients as and when required. This role includes participation in an on-call rota, providing support outside of normal working hours. On-call duties are shared equally among the team and compensated in line with company policy. Full-time | 5 days | Earlies & Lates (07:00 - 15:00 and 12:00 - 20:00) | plus on call requirement What benefits can you expect?

Role Responsibilities
  • Business Performance and Service Delivery - Deliver excellent customer service by ensuring the prompt departure of Ambulance Care Assistants from base.
  • Compliance - Assist the Compliance Team with daily, weekly and monthly Health and Safety base checks to ensure that the base and any equipment is fully compliant at all times.
  • Fleet - Liaise with the Fleet supervisor to ensure that all vehicles are suitable for road use and undertake vehicle checks to ensure that performance and hygiene is optimal.
  • Data Management - Ensure that personal data management systems are kept up to date with all employees' details to ensure the accuracy of payroll and annual leave.
  • KPIs - Support the Contract Manager with delivery of KPI's, providing innovative ideas for improvement.
  • People Management - Conduct probationary reviews with Ambulance Care Assistants in line with Company policy.
  • Training - Ensure all areas of the contract deliver excellent patient service by delivering Annual Skills Development training and conducting driving assessments as and when required.
Do you have what it takes?
  • Full UK manual driving licence
    Experience of working in a highly regulated, complex business, with an understanding of healthcare logistics (patient transport service experience preferred).
  • Passion for patient care and delivering a highly effective service.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with proven ability to engage at all levels within an organisation.
  • High level of commercial awareness with proven experience in achieving KPI's within a highly regulated industry.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to coach and guide.
  • Excellent organisational skills with proven ability to multi-task and prioritise as required.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure and use initiative.
