Job summary

FCC Environment is seeking a Team Leader for the Daventry HWRC site. The role is full-time and based in Daventry, with an hourly wage of £13.71 and 32.5 hours per week. You will lead daily site operations, ensure safety for staff, contractors and visitors, and maximise reuse and recycling.

You will guide the team, train new staff, manage waste streams and ensure permits and site standards are met, delivering excellent customer service and maintaining a safe working environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in waste industry or similar sector.
• Experience in customer-focused service delivery.
• Experience managing a team.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily site operations and relay directions from management.
• Ensure correct segregation of waste streams into containers.
• Assist the public with waste separation and recycling guidance.
• Store hazardous waste safely and in permit compliance.
• Maintain clean, tidy and presentable site.
• Promote health, safety and environmental standards.
• Oversee reporting of incidents and near-misses.
• Train new staff and agency workers.
• Track stock and order items as needed.
• Complete waste tickets and transfer/consignment notes.
• Ensure timely checks and PPE/site requirement compliance.

Team Leader

Hourly Wage – £13.71 per hour (plus benefits)

Hours – 32.5 hours per week

As a Team Leader at FCC Environment, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the site, ensuring the health and safety of staff, contractors and visitors, minimising the impact on the environment and delivering excellent customer service. You will also lead the site team and help to maximise reuse and recycling.

This vacancy is for a full-time position.

What will you be doing?

• Leading the team through daily site operations and communicating instructions from the Management Team.
• Ensuring different waste streams are correctly segregated into the appropriate containers.
• Assisting members of the public with separating their waste and providing general advice about recycling.
• Ensuring waste, including hazardous waste, is stored safely and appropriately in accordance with permit requirements.
• Ensuring the site remains clean, tidy and presentable.
• Promoting and maintaining high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance across the site.
• Ensuring accident, incident and near-miss reporting procedures are understood and followed.
• Training new employees and agency staff on their daily site duties.
• Keeping track of site stock, including PPE and tools, and ordering items as required.
• Ensuring waste tickets, Waste Transfer Notes and Consignment Notes are completed correctly.
• Ensuring all required daily, weekly, monthly, six-monthly and annual checks are completed within the correct timeframes.
• Ensuring employees, contractors and visitors comply with the appropriate PPE and site requirements.
