Job summary

Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking two Teaching Assistants at Joseph Locke Primary in Barnsley. Roles are 28¾ hours per week, term time only, with two inset days, grade 3. Permanent intake details show a 12-month temporary post with potential extension.

Successful candidates will support pupils with SEND and work as part of a committed team to raise achievement. Applicants should have GCSEs in English and Maths at C/4 or above and hold a relevant Level 3 qualification.

Qualifications

  • A relevant Level 3 qualification (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
  • Willingness to work with pupils with SEND and planning tailored interventions.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver tailored interventions to enable all children to access mainstream education.
  • Support wellbeing, behaviour and personal development of pupils.
  • Work with colleagues to promote outdoor play and life skills.
  • Form positive relationships and contribute to a high standards in education.

Teaching Assistant x 2

The Governors wish to appoint two caring, enthusiastic and motivated Teaching Assistants who are willing to work with us in our journey to outstanding and support us in driving forward our school aims to ensure that every child reaches their full potential.

The successful applicants will be committed to ensuring the highest standards in children's education by working as part of an excellent team to ensure that the wellbeing, behaviour and personal development of pupils enhances their learning opportunities and life skills.

The applicants must be willing to work alongside children with a range of Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) to plan for and deliver tailored and personalised interventions that allow all children to access a high-quality mainstream education, as well as supporting all children to develop socially during outdoor play.

We are looking for someone who:
  • Can form positive and caring relationships with all children.
  • Is committed to ensuring the highest standards in children's education by working as part of a supportive and hardworking team to ensure that the wellbeing, behaviour and personal development of pupils enhances their learning opportunities and life skills.
  • Shows initiative and the ability to be spontaneous.
  • Has experience of working with children in all key stages.
  • Enjoys planning and leading play-based learning opportunities.
  • Has a passion for the outside classroom.
  • Motivates our children to be increasingly independent and confident as they learn and grow.
  • Possesses excellent subject knowledge of early phonics, reading, writing and numeracy.
  • Has a good sense of humour, combined with energy and enthusiasm.

The successful candidates will have the children at the heart of everything they do and a passion for continued professional development. Applicants must hold GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above, together with a relevant Level 3 qualification (ie NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) in a relevant subject.
