Job summary

Elangeni is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support pupils within the classroom and contribute to a positive learning environment. You will assist teachers with delivering engaging lessons, provide individualised support in small groups or 1:1, and help track pupil progress.

The role requires strong English and Maths skills, safeguarding awareness, and the ability to work as part of a team to improve pupil outcomes during term-time only.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting pupils in a school setting.

• Strong English and Maths skills and classroom behaviour management.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with learning activities in small groups or 1:1.
• Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons and differentiated tasks.
• Implement planned curriculum and monitor pupil progress in line with school procedures.
• Supervise pupils at break and lunchtime and maintain a safe learning environment.

This position involves assisting teachers in delivering engaging lessons, providing individualised support to pupils in small groups or 1:1, and fostering an inclusive learning environment that promotes pupil engagement and achievement.,

• Supporting pupils with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)
• Ensuring pupils' safety and adhering to safeguarding procedures
• Assisting with the delivery of the planned curriculum
• Using resources effectively to enhance learning
• Delivering support in small groups or on a 1:1 basis, including leading interventions
• Help manage classroom behaviour and maintain a positive and conducive learning environment.
• Supervising pupils at break and lunchtime (playground or dining hall)
• Helping to create a positive, welcoming classroom environment that promotes independence
• Working closely with the class teacher to plan and address any concerns
• Monitoring and tracking pupil progress in line with school procedures
• Undertaking additional duties as directed by the Deputy Head Teacher, SENDCo, or Head Teacher within the scope of the role
• Using technology (e.g. computers and iPads) to support administration, training, and learning activities
• Support the emotional and social development of our pupils, leading to increased confidence and engagement in learning.

We are seeking a new colleague to work 30 hours per week, typically 6 hours per day, over 5 days each week, usually 8.30am to 3pm (includes ½-hour unpaid lunch break) This is a permanent post and the contract of employment is term time only (38 weeks per year plus 5 weeks paid holiday, taken during school holidays)
