Job summary

Elangeni invites applications for a Teaching Assistant to support pupils 1:1 and in small groups, within a caring, inclusive classroom. The role covers term-time working, 30 hours per week (approximately 6 hours/day, 5 days), with 38 weeks plus 5 weeks holiday.

Salary is Bucks Pay Scale R11–R15 pro-rata. The post is permanent, part-time, and interviews are scheduled in October. A supportive staff team and clear development opportunities are advertised.

Responsibilities

• Supporting pupils with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
• Ensuring pupils' safety and adhering to safeguarding procedures.
• Assisting with the delivery of the planned curriculum.
• Using resources effectively to enhance learning.
• Delivering support in small groups or on a 1:1 basis, including leading interventions.
• Help manage classroom behaviour and maintain a positive and conducive learning environment.
• Supervising pupils at break and lunchtime (playground or dining hall).
• Helping to create a positive, welcoming classroom environment that promotes independence.
• Working closely with the class teacher to plan and address any concerns.
• Monitoring and tracking pupil progress in line with school procedures.
• Undertaking additional duties as directed by the Deputy Head Teacher, SENDCo, or Head Teacher within the scope of the role.
• Using technology (e.g. computers and iPads) to support administration, training, and learning activities.
• Support the emotional and social development of our pupils, leading to increased confidence and engagement in learning.

Job description

We are seeking to appoint a dedicated Teaching Assistant who is passionate about fostering a love of learning and believe that every child can succeed. The role involves supporting pupils both individually (1:1) and in small groups, working in classrooms, during break and lunchtime supervision, and alongside teaching staff.

Our Teaching Assistants are primarily based within one year group but may at times support across different classes and year groups placing staff appropriating allowing us to draw on and make best use of their areas of strength and expertise.

We are seeking a new colleague to work 30 hours per week, typically 6 hours per day, over 5 days each week, usually 8.30am to 3pm (includes ½-hour unpaid lunch break) This is a permanent post and the contract of employment is term time only (38 weeks per year plus 5 weeks paid holiday, taken during school holidays)

This position involves assisting teachers in delivering engaging lessons, providing individualised support to pupils in small groups or 1:1, and fostering an inclusive learning environment that promotes pupil engagement and achievement.
