Teaching Assistant qualification

Job description

We are looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate and highly motivated Teaching Assistant to join our warm and dedicated team. Our school is currently entering an exciting phase of growth and expansion, and this is a wonderful opportunity to join us at a time of positive development and ambition. We are proud to be a small, nurturing and inclusive school where children are genuinely known as individuals, relationships matter, and every member of staff has the opportunity to make a real difference. The successful candidate will work primarily to provide high-quality support for children with SEND, including pupils who may have complex learning, communication, emotional, sensory or regulation needs. We are looking for someone who sees the potential in every child and understands that effective support should build confidence, independence and successful access to learning. Alongside the Teaching Assistant role, we would ideally like the successful candidate to have the flexibility to support and deliver after-school club provision, helping us to further develop the opportunities available to our children and families as our school continues to grow. The role is part-time and term-time only, working 30 hours per week. This is a permanment position pending a successful probationary period.

  • Hold a Teaching Assistant qualification or have comparable relevant experience, ideally of at least two years.
  • Have experience of, or a genuine passion for, supporting children with SEND and additional needs.
  • Have excellent communication, literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Hold high expectations and firmly believe that every child can succeed, flourish and make progress.
  • Are nurturing, patient, adaptable and able to build positive, trusting relationships with children.
  • Understand that behaviour can be a form of communication and can respond calmly and positively to children's individual needs.
  • Are committed to developing children's independence rather than creating reliance on adult support.
  • Work successfully as part of a team and communicate confidently and professionally with colleagues, families and children.
  • Will actively model and contribute to our school's values, ethos and inclusive culture.
You will be joining us at a particularly exciting time. As our school grows and expands, there will be opportunities to contribute ideas, develop your own practice and play an important part in shaping provision for our children and families.
  • We offer a caring and inclusive working environment, a supportive and hardworking staff team, and a genuine commitment to professional development and career progression. As part of a successful and locally based multi-academy company, staff also benefit from access to wider professional networks, training and development opportunities, alongside an excellent pension scheme. Most importantly, you will be joining a school where every child matters and every member of staff has the opportunity to make a difference.
