Axcis Education Recruitment seeks a SEND teaching assistant for a primary school supporting a child with autism. The role requires patience, empathy, and experience in SEND settings. Successful candidates will work in a supportive environment with excellent resources and a dedicated team, starting this September.
Axcis education are working with a SEND school in the Teignbridge area who support pupils from 6 – 16. They have a nursery, primary, secondary and 6th form site with class sizes as small as 6 to 10. The pupils have learning difficulties, communication, and a range of complex needs. The pupils use behaviour as a form of communication which needs to be managed in a resilient, nurturing, and emphatic manner. I am recruiting for a SEND teaching assistant to work in their primary site supporting a child aged 7 with autism, who is pre-verbal and hyperenergetic. The right candidate must be a lively person who can match the child’s energy. The child if regulated will often go out to the forest school, playground or in the sensory room to calm their emotions. You must support the child’s emotions, be a calm and nurturing role model with the ability to build a relationship and risk asses their needs in the environment outside the classroom. As the child is pre-verbal the school use PEC cards, audio queues or signs which you can learn on the job, but having any Makaton, or communication experience would be a bonus. The child can speak but chooses not to. To apply for this SEND teaching assistant role you must have previous experience in a SEND setting such as support worker, carer, teaching assistant etc. You must be patient, empathetic and understanding to the child’s needs, respond and adapt effectively to empower their independence in school. The school has wonderful resources, a compassionate team who will check up on you and make sure you are getting on well. You will also have a personal consultant to guide you through this new role. Apply Now. This is a September job role for the new academic year. The pay is £90 - £95 per day on a temporary contract with the opportunity of going permanent depending on your performance. INDDEV
