Job summary

TimePlan Education is seeking a Teaching Assistant for a school in Guildford, starting September 2026. The role involves supporting individual pupils in a welcoming, inclusive setting, including those with SEND.

You will help students access learning and build confidence, contributing to a positive classroom culture. The ideal candidate will have prior experience with children, a genuine interest in SEND, strong communication skills, and DBS clearance or willingness to obtain one.

Qualifications

  • Has previous experience working with children in a school, childcare, or similar setting.
  • Has experience supporting pupils with SEND or a genuine interest in developing within this area.
  • Is patient, empathetic, and committed to helping every child succeed.
  • Has strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Works effectively as part of a team and can use their own initiative.
  • Holds an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to obtain one.

Responsibilities

  • Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and effective lessons.
  • Work with pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
  • Provide targeted support for children with SEND, including Autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, and other additional learning needs.
  • Help adapt learning activities to meet individual pupil requirements.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, independence, and engagement in learning.
  • Support pupils' social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Assist in creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment.
