Wyvil Primary School in London is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join its Resource Base. The post focuses on supporting pupils with Autism and SLCN, delivering targeted Speech and Language interventions, and working with therapists to provide high quality provision.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting pupils with Autism and Speech, Language and Communication Needs within a Resource Base.

  • Work closely with the class teacher and external professionals to deliver high quality provision.
  • Using specialist communication approaches, including visual timetables, Now/Next boards, PECS/AAC.
  • Supporting sensory regulation, independence and emotional regulation.
  • Delivering personalised learning linked to pupils EHCP outcomes and individual targets.
  • Working closely with teachers, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and other professionals.
  • Creating a calm, structured and nurturing learning environment.

Job description

Salary: Scale 3 Pt 5-6 to Scale 4 Pt 7-10

Hours: Full Time - 32.5 hours per week

Year Round?: 39 weeks per year (term time plus INSET days)

Permanent?: Yes

Wyvil Primary School is an exciting and innovative two form entry school situated in the centre of London, based across three buildings. We have two mainstream sites with integrated resource base classes for children with Autism and Speech and Language needs, and an Autism Resource Base in Kennington. Our teacher ratio enables high quality teaching and learning whilst promoting staff leadership and professional development. We have embedded a coaching culture across the school, enabling staff to have regular opportunities for reflective practice, active listening and high quality questioning.

We are looking to appoint an aspirational, hardworking and caring Teaching Assistant to join our inclusive and ambitious Resource Base team.

The role will involve:

  • supporting pupils with Autism and Speech, Language and Communication Needs and associated sensory, developmental and learning needs; within a Resource Base environment;
  • delivering targeted Speech and Language interventions, including:
  1. Communication, Attention Autism and Intensive Interaction;
  2. RWI Phonics and adapted early literacy interventions;
  3. Social communication and social skills programmes;
  4. Emotional regulation and Zones of Regulation activities;
  5. Sensory regulation programmes;
  • working closely with the class teacher and external professionals to deliver high quality provision;
  • using specialist communication approaches, including visual timetables, Now/Next boards, PECS/AAC;
  • supporting sensory regulation, independence and emotional regulation;
  • delivering personalised learning linked to pupils' EHCP outcomes and individual targets;
  • working closely with teachers, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and other professionals;
  • creating a calm, structured and nurturing learning environment.

You will:

  • work flexibly within a collaborative and supportive team;

  • support children to develop their communication, independence and social interaction skills;
