Job summary

The Clarendon Academy in Wiltshire is seeking a caring and motivated Teaching Assistant to join its Resource Base for students with cognition and learning needs. This role supports secondary pupils who require specialist provision within a mainstream setting.

You will work with SEND staff to help pupils progress in their learning, support small groups, and contribute to a nurturing, collaborative classroom environment. Part-time hours (30 per week) across 39 weeks, with training opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience of supporting students learning.
• Current First Aid or is prepared to undertake training.
• Experience working with pupils with SEND (advantageous).

Job description

Clarendon Academy is looking for a caring and motivated Teaching Assistant to join its dedicated Resource Base for students with cognition and learning needs. This is a fantastic opportunity to provide support for secondary aged students who require a more specialist provision than mainstream, but who do not need a special school. The resource base has its own distinct character, where students are able to thrive in a nurturing environment yet still have the chance to experience all the facilities and opportunities as their mainstream peers.

Working Hours: Part time (30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 39 weeks per year, includes Teacher Training Days). Required: ASAP.

Clarendon Academy is a thriving co-educational, non-denominational secondary school and sixth form, educating young people between the ages of 11 and 18. As a Teaching Assistant, you will be passionate about supporting pupils with learning difficulties, speech, language and communication needs, and be able to work with small groups of students requiring SEND support. You will work with other members of staff within the Resource Base and the wider SEND team to help students progress in their learning, and will make a real difference to their school lives.

• Has a current First Aid or is prepared to undertake training;
• Has experience working with pupils with SEND (advantageous).
