Job summary

Nailsea School is seeking a motivated Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join the SEND team. You will deliver lessons to small groups within the Resource Base, aligned with the mainstream curriculum.

Key duties include adapting core lessons for ASD students, planning life skills curricula, and supporting EHCPs while tracking progress and providing feedback to teachers and the Deputy SENCO.

Qualifications

  • Experience of working with children with SEND, specifically ASD/Social communication.
  • Good understanding of the national curriculum framework and adaptive teaching strategies.
  • Ability to modify and adapt the school day to meet individual needs.
  • Flexible, positive, proactive in meeting children's needs.
  • Good levels of written English.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Adapt and deliver lessons to small groups across mainstream subjects.
  • Plan, prepare and deliver core national and life skills curriculum for small groups.
  • Provide clear teaching to secure pupil progress and assess attainment.
  • Provide assessment feedback to teachers and Deputy SENCO for EHCPs.
  • Record student progress in school systems and support EHCPs as directed.

We have an exciting opportunity to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our SEND team to deliver lessons to small classes within the Resource Base, planned around the mainstream curriculum.

Key Requirements
  • Experience of working with children with SEND, specifically ASD/Social communication
  • A good understanding of the national curriculum framework and adaptive teaching strategies
  • A good understanding of how to modify and adapt the school day to meet the needs of individuals within the class
  • An ability to be flexible, positive and good humoured; proactively seeking creative ways of meeting children’s needs
  • Good levels of written English
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
Responsibilities
  • Adapt and deliver lessons (across a range of mainstream subjects) to small groups of students who have a diagnosis of ASD.
  • Plan, prepare and deliver core national and life skills (i.e. Unit Award Scheme) curriculum to students on a small group basis, supporting individual needs as required
  • Give clear and effective teaching to secure pupil progress whilst assessing the development, progress, and attainment of pupils
  • Provide assessment feedback to teachers, and Deputy SENCO to support individual's EHCPs
  • Use school systems to record student progress and be responsible for the any EHCPs of students, as directed by the Deputy SENCO

Employment Details

Grade 11, Point 20-25 (Salary £32,597 - £36,363 Full Time/All year equivalent, Pro-rata'd actual starting salary of £19,086 per annum)

Part Time 25 hrs per week, Term Time Only, plus 3 INSET days
