Teaching Assistant – SEN Provision

Location: Birmingham
Duration: Full-time, ongoing
Salary: £95 – £105 per day

About the Role

We are currently seeking a skilled and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant special needs school in Birmingham. This full-time position is available on a long-term basis and offers an excellent opportunity to work closely with pupils who have a range of additional needs, including autism (ASD), ADHD, moderate learning difficulties (MLD), and severe learning difficulties (SLD).

If you have previous experience supporting children in an educational or care setting and are passionate about inclusive learning, this could be the ideal next step in your career.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting pupils 1:1 and in small groups with tailored learning activities
  • Assisting with sensory regulation and behaviour management strategies
  • Building positive relationships that encourage pupil confidence and participation
  • Promoting movement and outdoor activity as part of daily routines
  • Collaborating with teaching staff and the SENCO to implement support plans

What We’re Looking For

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • At least two years of experience supporting children or young people with SEN
  • A background in education, childcare, or healthcare
  • Familiarity with PECS and/or Makaton (desirable)
  • Experience working with pupils with complex needs such as PMLD, SLD, MLD, or ASD
  • A Level 1 Safeguarding certificate (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Two recent, relevant references from a school or childcare setting
  • A valid photo ID (passport or driving licence)
  • An enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or willingness to apply for one)
