Job summary

Barnsole Primary School in Hale, United Kingdom, seeks a passionate Teaching Assistant to join our SEND provision. You will support pupils with diverse needs 1:1 or in small groups, assist with personal care when needed, and help deliver inclusive lessons.

A calm, patient approach and a commitment to ongoing development are essential. The role offers 30.5 hours per week plus 2 hours HLTA time, permanent contract, and 38 weeks per year.

Qualifications

• Must have at least NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) with strong literacy and numeracy skills.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND and various needs (ASD, speech and language, SEMH).
• Able to work well in a team, be proactive, flexible, and resilient.
• Calm, empathetic, and committed to development in a supportive environment.

Join Barnsole School as a Teaching Assistant (SEND)-Make a real difference-every day, every child, every moment

Hours: 30.5 hours per week as a TA + 2 hours as a HLTA (Mon - Friday 8:30 - 3:30)

Contract: Permanent

Time Time Only: 38 weeks per year

Start Date: 2nd November 2026

Actual Salary: TA D2 4-11 £17,359.25 -£19,702.40 (Actual). HLTA post C2 12-25 £1,300.32-£1,684.45 (Actual) + SEN Allowance £1539

You'll work closely with class teachers and support staff to help create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for pupils with a range of needs.

About The Role

As a Teaching Assistant at Barnsole Primary School in our SEND provision, you'll play a vital role in supporting the academic, emotional, and social development of pupils including those with SEND. Every day brings variety and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference. In this role, you will:

• Provide tailored 1:1 or small group support to help pupils access learning

• Assist with personal care needs when required, always ensuring dignity and respect

• Help deliver creative, inclusive lessons and interventions

• Encourage independence, build confidence, and foster a love of learning

• Contribute to a calm, nurturing, and positive school atmosphere

Who You Are We are looking to appoint someone who is:

• Passionate about making a difference to children with SEND

• Experienced in supporting pupils with ASD, speech and language needs, SEMH, or other additional needs

• Ideally qualified to at least NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent), with strong literacy and numeracy skills

• Proactive, flexible, and able to work well as part of a team

• Calm, empathetic, and resilient under pressure

• Committed to continuous professional development
