Job Title: Teaching Assistant – SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health)

Location: South Manchester, Greater Manchester

Job Type: Full-time, Long-term

Start Date: June (After Half-Term)

Our client is a well-regarded mainstream school located in the heart of South Manchester, known for its inclusive ethos and academic excellence. The school features a dedicated SEMH nurture provision, which offers tailored support for students with additional emotional or behavioural needs, helping them to thrive within a nurturing environment.

We are currently recruiting on behalf of the school for a skilled and compassionate Teaching Assistant with experience in supporting students with SEMH needs. This is a long-term opportunity to join a committed team and make a meaningful impact in a well-resourced and supportive setting.

Responsibilities:
  1. Support pupils with SEMH needs both within the nurture provision and in mainstream classrooms.
  2. Deliver targeted small group sessions and one-to-one interventions to promote student engagement and progress.
  3. Assist with the creation and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
  4. Monitor and report on student development, providing regular updates to teaching staff and parents/carers.
  5. Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
Candidate Requirements:
  • Prior experience supporting children with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) and/or SEND in an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with SEMH needs.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Compassion, patience, and resilience.
  • Enhanced DBS check or willingness to obtain one before starting.
