Job summary

Milk Education are partnering with a welcoming Doncaster secondary school to recruit a dedicated Teaching Assistant for a September 2026 start. You will provide tailored classroom support, helping students engage with learning and overcome barriers to achievement.

Ideal candidates have experience with young people in education or related settings, a patient and resilient approach, and strong communication skills. DBS Enhanced (or willingness to obtain) is welcomed.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with young people in education, schools, childcare, coaching, youth work, care or similar settings.
  • Patience, caring and resilient approach.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Willingness to obtain Enhanced DBS or update service.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support across a range of subjects.
  • Support students with SEND, including ASC, ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties.
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, classroom engagement and participation.
  • Help students develop confidence, independence, resilience and social skills.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs and pastoral teams to implement support strategies.
  • Support pupils inside and outside the classroom when required.
  • Build positive relationships to help students thrive academically and emotionally.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you\'ll work alongside teachers and pastoral staff to provide tailored classroom support for students who need additional guidance. You\'ll play a key role in helping pupils engage with learning, develop positive relationships, and reach both their academic and personal goals.

Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support across a range of subjects.
  • Support students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties.
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, classroom engagement, and participation.
  • Help students develop confidence, independence, resilience, and social skills.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to implement individual support strategies.
  • Support pupils both inside and outside the classroom when required.
  • Build positive relationships that enable students to thrive academically and emotionally.
What We\'re Looking For
  • Experience working with young people in education, schools, childcare, coaching, youth work, care, or similar settings.
  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Classroom Assistant, or SEND Support Worker is desirable but not essential.
  • A patient, caring, and resilient approach.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Confidence supporting students with additional learning or behavioural needs.
  • A genuine passion for education and helping young people succeed.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
