Job summary

Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic full-time Teaching Assistant to support students in Key Stages 3 and 4 at a welcoming secondary school in the Bolton area. This role is perfect for someone passionate about helping young people thrive - whether you already have experience working with ages 11-16 or you're a recent graduate eager to gain valuable classroom experience.

Position Details
  • Location: Bolton
  • Position: Teaching Assistant (Secondary)
  • Start Date: December 2025
  • Contract Type: Full-time, temporary
  • Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm
  • Minimum Pay: £450.00 - £550.00 per week
Teaching Assistant Role Overview
  • Provide dedicated support to students across KS3 & KS4, helping them stay engaged and confident in their learning
  • Assist with a variety of classroom activities and deliver small-group interventions to boost student progress
  • Support students with additional learning, SEND, or emotional needs when required
  • Help maintain a calm, positive, and consistent learning environment
  • Work closely with teachers, pastoral teams, and parents to support student wellbeing
  • Contribute to wider school activities, including exam support and general classroom duties
Experience, Training & Qualifications
  • Previous experience working in a secondary school or supporting young people
  • GCSE English & Maths (Grade C/4 or above)
  • Up-to-date safeguarding training (can be provided)
  • Prevent, behaviour management, and FGM training (can be provided)
Requirements
  • Right to Work in the UK
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
  • Two professional references covering the last two years
