Job summary

Howden Junior School is seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a Teaching Assistant, supporting pupil learning and care. The role involves assisting with emotional and behavioural support, working with individuals or small groups, and contributing to resource development to help pupils reach their potential.

The post offers term-time hours (up to 31.25 per week) with additional hours and lunch supervision duties. Closing date is 5 October 2026.

Qualifications

• Good literacy and numeracy skills.
• Level 2 ELSA qualification or equivalent.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with emotional and behavioural difficulties to access the curriculum.
• Work with individuals or small groups of pupils.
• Assist in identified areas: language, behaviour, reading, spelling, numeracy, handwriting/presentation, ICT, social skills and EAL.
• Meet the physical needs of pupils and encourage independence.
• Liaise with the class teacher and SENCO about individual needs.
• Develop resources to support pupil(s).
