Job summary

Sprowston Infant School in Norwich is seeking an experienced teaching assistant to join our EYFS team from September 2026.

The role covers EYFS/KS1 support, 30 hours per week (8:40-12:00 and 13:10-15:10) plus MSA time; permanent, part-time.

Level 2/3 TA qualification required; duties include assessing learning and planning next steps, working under teacher direction and building positive relationships.

Qualifications

  • Level 2/3 teaching assistant qualification.
  • Experience with EYFS/KS1 in a school setting.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to follow teacher direction and use own initiative to support learning.
  • Ability to establish positive relationships with children, parents and staff.
  • Solid understanding of the EYFS and KS1 curriculum.

Responsibilities

  • Support learning in EYFS provision and KS1 as part of the class team.

  • Salary – Scale D, £13.47-£13.68/hr (TA) and Scale A, £12.85/hr (MSA)
  • Permanent
  • Part Time
  • 30 hours per week
  • TA – 27.5 hours per week, Term Time plus 1 week
  • MSA – 2.5 hours per week, Term Time only
  • Required for September 2026

We are looking to increase our EYFS staff team from September. We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic TA who has experience in EYFS and/or KS1, this is essential. The role will be working in our well-resourced EYFS provision and the successful candidate will have the ability to assess children’s learning and development as well as planning for their next steps.Working hours, 8.40am – 12noon and 1pm- 3.10pm + 30 mins MSA, Monday to Friday.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Level 2/3 teaching assistant qualification
  • Previous experience of working with EYFS/KS1 children in a school setting
  • Excellent communication skills
  • The ability to work under the direction of the teacher, but is able to use their own initiative to support learning
  • The ability to establish a positive relationship with children, parents and staff
  • A secure knowledge and understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage and KS1 curriculum
