Job summary

Polaris Community in Huddersfield is seeking a Teaching Assistant for a 12-month fixed term, part-time role (term-time only). The position involves four days per week: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, with a pro rata salary of 17,006–18,585 GBP per annum.

The role supports one pupil or small groups, assists teachers, and helps maintain a positive learning environment within our SEN school. DBS clearance is required, and ongoing professional development is encouraged.

Qualifications

• Strong basic education with GCSE English and Maths (grade C) and IT skills.
• Experience in a similar role desirable.
• Experience supporting SEMH in an educational setting.

Responsibilities

• Support one pupil or a small group (maximum six).
• Assist the classroom teacher during lessons.
• Report on progress and concerns to school staff.
• Supervise pupils during non-classroom activities and trips.
• Assist with lesson planning and preparation.
• Set work and mark where appropriate.
• Build positive relationships to support learning outcomes.
