Job summary

St Peter's Church of England Middle School is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to support pupils within a busy classroom. The role involves assisting with reading, writing and maths through targeted programmes under the SENCO and classroom teacher's direction.

The post requires empathy, resilience and commitment to safeguarding, with experience of one-to-one and small-group support, and training in ELSA/ALS/PAT where possible. A health and safety aware approach is essential.

Qualifications

• Basic literacy and numeracy required.
• Minimum 2 years' experience with children.
• LSA training completed.
• Desirable: ELSA/ALS/PAT experience.
• First Aid training beneficial.
• Commitment to safeguarding and professional development.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to individual children and small groups in learning activities.
• Deliver structured programmes (ELS, ALS, Springboard, PAT, IEPs).
• Encourage children's independent learning through guidance.
• Reinforce classroom behaviour standards and school policy.
• Prepare teaching room and resources for lessons.
• Assist with assessments and monitoring of pupil progress.
• Undertake First Aid duties as trained and follow safety policy.
• Report hazards and follow Health & Safety procedures.
