Job summary

Netherthorpe Primary School in England is seeking a Level 3 Teaching Assistant to support KS2 learners, initially Year 4, with a focus on English and Maths. The role involves running specific programmes to assist individual learning and social needs within a whole-school team.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Provide learning support in class or withdrawal situations, either 1:1 or in small groups.
  • Plan and prepare, under the teacher’s direction, to teach small groups of children, including those new to English.
  • Be flexible and adaptable and work as part of a whole-school team.
  • Support pupils in the playground and encourage interactive play.
  • Forge positive relationships with pupils, parents and staff.

Job description

We are looking to appoint a Level 3 Teaching Assistant who is experiencedat working with KS2 children, initially in Year 4, although this may changefrom year to year, according to the needs of the children.

Duties will include runningspecific programmes and activities to assist pupil’s individual learning andsocial needs.

The successful candidateswill:

  • Believe in giving every child theopportunity to fulfil their potential.
  • Have a good understanding of the KS2curriculum, particularly English and Maths.
  • Forge positive relationships with pupils,parents and staff and enjoy working as part of a whole-school team.
  • Have good organisational andcommunication skills both orally and written.
  • Knowledge of Little Wandles Phonics andReading programme is desirable but not essential.
  • Knowledge of Makaton and Cuedarticulation is desirable.
  • Make a positive contribution to ourschool team.
  • Providelearning support in class or in withdrawal situations, either 1:1 or smallgroups.
  • Beable to plan and prepare, under the teacher’s direction, to teach small groupsof children, including those new to English.
  • Haveexperience working with children with additional needs (desirable).
  • Haveexperience of carrying out interventions with identified children.
  • Makeor modify resources as suggested and advised by the class teacher.
  • Beinvolved in the planning and preparation of the day to day class activitiesunder the direction of the class teacher.
  • Beflexible and adaptable.
  • Supportpupils in the playground and encouraging interactive play.
  • Motivateand encourage pupils to have a go at activities they may be unsure of and toencourage independence.
  • Providepositive reinforcements and praise.
  • Promote the inclusion and acceptance of allpupils within the classroom provision and give every child the opportunity tofulfil their full potential.
