The Headteacher and Governing Body of St Julian's Primary School wish to appoint a caring, enthusiastic and committed Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join our team.
St Julian's is a large, vibrant community primary school in Newport, welcoming children from Nursery to Year 6. We are proud of our diverse school community and work to ensure that every child feels safe, included and ready to learn. Our motto, 'Learning together, hand in hand', reflects the importance we place on relationships and on working closely with children, families and one another.
We want our children to develop curiosity, confidence, resilience and independence. Our curriculum brings learning to life through purposeful, practical experiences, including outdoor learning, digital technology, creative activities, visits and opportunities to contribute to our community. Teaching assistants play an important part in making these experiences accessible and successful for our pupils.
Working closely with class teachers and other colleagues, you will support children's learning, wellbeing and participation in school life. The role is expected to involve working mainly with our younger pupils, although you may be required to support children in other year groups according to the needs of the school.
You will provide support within the classroom and work with individual pupils and small groups, including children with additional learning needs. You will help children develop their communication, literacy, numeracy and social skills, while encouraging them to become increasingly independent.
Building positive, trusting relationships will be central to your work. You will help children approach challenges with confidence, recognise their achievements and take their next steps in learning. We encourage applicants to have a look at our website to find out further information about the school - www.stjuliansprimary.com.
