Job summary

Springwood Primary School in Salford is seeking Level 1 Teaching Assistants to join our expanding team at Barton Road, Swinton. The roles include 32.5 hours per week for five full-time vacancies and one part-time role at 16.5 hours per week.

The school serves pupils with SEND aged 5–11 and is part of The LINK Education Trust. We welcome applicants who are committed to safeguarding and inclusive education, with a focus on helping every child reach their potential.

Qualifications

• Support primary age children with complex needs to achieve their potential
• Ensure pupils are included and supported to develop irrespective of SEND

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and delivering learning activities for pupils with complex needs
• Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils as required
• Support behaviour management and safeguarding in line with school policies

Job description

At Springwood Primary School we are constantly striving to create the best learning opportunities for every pupil. We aim to provide a specialist, high quality, relevant and balanced education for pupils with SEND aged 5 -11.

We are seeking to appoint a number of Level 1 Teaching Assistants on both permanent and fixed term contracts to join our ever-expanding team at our Barton Road, Swinton site.

5 vacancies are for fulltime hours (32.5 per week) and 1 position is for part-time hours (16.5 hours per week)

Springwood is a large primary age Special School (385 pupils aged 5 11) based over a number of sites, which caters for pupils with moderate, severe and complex needs. Springwood Primary School is part of The LINK Education Trust.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate how they meet the following essential criteria:

• Are you interested in supporting primary age children with complex needs to achieve their potential?
• Will you ensure that all our pupils are included and supported to develop whatever their special educational needs or behaviour challenges?
• Can you work as part of a team to provide an appropriate learning environment for our pupils?
• Do you want to learn new skills and participate in your own professional development?
• Previous experience of working with young people of school age who may present with challenging behaviour and complex needs, preferably within an educational setting.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited, into school, to undertake a class-based task, an ICT task and a panel interview.

Interviews will be held: 28th September 2026
