Job summary

Windhill21 is seeking a Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant to join our school on a permanent basis. You will work with teachers to support teaching and learning, providing general and targeted assistance to pupils under supervision.

Hours are Monday to Wednesday, 8:30am to 3:15pm, with flexibility discussed for the right candidate. Pay is £26,016 per annum FTE, pro-rata for 18.75 hours per week, term time only.

Job Description:

Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant - Permanent

Pay grade:

£26,016 per annum FTE (Pay will be pro‑ratio for 18.75 hrs/wk, term time only) | Grade H2 Point 4

Hours:

Monday to Wednesday, 8:30am to 3:15pm (We are open to discussing alternative schedules for the right candidate)

Responsible to:

Headteacher and Class Teacher

Purpose of the Role:

To work with teachers to support teaching and learning, providing general and specific assistance to staff, pupils and individual pupils under the direction, guidance and direct supervision of classroom teacher.

Responsibilities:

Work with individuals or small groups of pupils in the classroom under the direct supervision of teaching staff and provide feedback to the teacher.

Lead focused intervention sessions to reinforce key concepts.

Support pupils to understand instructions support independent learning and inclusion of all pupils.

Observe pupils during tasks, record their understanding and sticking points, and offer real‑time feedback during lessons.

Support the teacher in positive behaviour management and keeping pupils on task.

Support pupils in social and emotional well‑being.

Prepare and help organise the learning environment and resources, including photocopying, filing and the display and presentation of pupils’ work and contribute to maintaining a safe environment.

Teachings Assistants in this role may also undertake some or all the following:

• Record basic pupil data.
• Assist with breaktime and lunch‑time supervision including facilitating games and activities.
• Assist with escorting pupils on educational visits.
• Support pupils in using basic IT.
• Administration of tests and assessments.
• Assist pupils with eating, dressing and hygiene, as required, whilst encouraging independence.
