Job summary

Old Cleeve First School in Somerset is seeking a Teaching Assistant to work under the direction of teaching staff, supporting learning and classroom management. You will help pupils access learning and contribute to a positive, inclusive classroom environment.

You will assist with phonics, reading, writing and maths interventions, encourage independence and resilience, and provide nurturing pastoral support to promote emotional wellbeing. This is a fixed-term, term-time role.

Qualifications

• Working under the direct instruction of teaching and senior staff.
• Support access to learning and classroom management to enable pupil progress.
• Provide nurturing pastoral support to promote emotional wellbeing and inclusion.
• Deliver targeted interventions to support reading, writing and mathematics.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support pupils to ensure their safety, wellbeing and access to learning.
• Support high-quality teaching and learning across the curriculum; deliver phonics and targeted reading, writing and maths interventions.
• Attend to pupils' personal, social, emotional, health and welfare needs, providing trauma-informed and restorative support.
• Develop personalised strategies to remove barriers to learning and support EHCP targets.
• Work with teachers and SENDCo to help pupils achieve learning and development goals.
