Job summary

TipTopJob is recruiting a Primary HLTA to cover day-to-day and long-term roles near Cambourne, delivering pre-planned lessons across EYFS, KS1, and KS2. You will lead classrooms and support teachers to raise pupil attainment.

Experience leading primary classes, strong curriculum knowledge, and an active DBS check are essential. Roles offer flexible schedules with no admin overhead.

Qualifications

  • HLTA status or Level 4 qualification in education.
  • Experience leading whole classes in primary settings (EYFS/ KS1/ KS2).
  • Strong knowledge of the Primary National Curriculum.
  • Excellent communication and proactive classroom management.
  • Enhanced DBS check or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

  • Classroom cover for planned teacher absences and PPA, delivering pre-planned lessons.
  • Plan, deliver small group or 1:1 interventions in literacy, numeracy, and phonics.
  • Collaborate with class teachers to assess progress and adapt resources.
  • Create a positive, inclusive learning environment with strong behaviour management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Classroom Cover: Confidently take whole:class responsibility to cover planned teacher absences, scheduled PPA time, or short:term sickness, delivering pre:planned lessons across various primary subjects.
  • Targeted Interventions: Plan, prepare, and deliver small:group or 1:1 interventions in literacy, numeracy, and phonics to help bridge learning gaps and boost pupil confidence.
  • Collaboration: Work closely alongside class teachers to assess pupil progress, provide constructive feedback, and adapt learning resources to suit diverse needs.
  • Learning Environment: Foster a positive, inclusive, and productive classroom environment, utilising strong behaviour management skills to keep pupils motivated and focused.
What We Look For
  • HLTA Status (or equivalent Level 4 qualification), or a recognised foundation degree in education. Experienced primary teachers looking for HLTA work are also highly welcomed.
  • Proven experience independently leading whole classes within a primary school setting (EYFS, KS1, or KS2).
  • Excellent knowledge of the Primary National Curriculum and primary age:group development.
  • Outstanding communication skills, a proactive attitude, and confident classroom management.
  • A valid Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or a willingness to complete one).
