Level 2 Teaching Assistant (TA2) - Fixed Term Contract (EHCP funded 1:1 support)

We will review the contract in 12 months' time and would hope to extend this, subject to sufficient EHCP funding.

22 hours 30 min per week / (Monday-Friday 8.50am - 1.20pm)

About the Role

We are seeking to appoint a compassionate, patient, and dedicated Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join our staffing team at Finstall First School. The majority of the role will be to provide focused 1:1 support for a pupil with Cognition and Learning needs and an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The successful candidate will be able to build a positive, trusting relationship with the child while working collaboratively with parents/carers, school staff, and other relevant professionals. This is a specialist 1:1 position, supporting the child to engage fully with teaching and learning, participate in all aspects of school life, and develop increasing independence.

The role will also involve 1 hour 40 minutes of lunchtime support each day.

The role is term-time only and involves working 22 hours 30 min per week, including attendance on specified INSET days. We are committed to supporting flexible working arrangements and welcome discussions about alternative working patterns where these can meet the needs of both the child and the school. A proposed timetable is attached.

Contract Type

This is a fixed-term post that is linked to the provision of additional support required under a pupil's Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), together with the corresponding funding allocated to the school.

The role has been created specifically to provide dedicated 1:1 support for an individual pupil and will remain in place for as long as this EHCP-funded provision is required.

The contract will therefore end when the need for this additional support no longer exists, such as if the pupil leaves the school, the EHCP is reviewed and amended resulting in reduced support requirements, or the associated funding is withdrawn.

Pay Range

Grade TA2 - Spinal Column Point 5-6 (£14,116.30 - £14,340.65) per annum at 22 hours 30 min per week.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Enjoys working with children and helping them to achieve their best
  • Can build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues
  • Has excellent communication skills and a flexible, team-focused approach
  • Is patient, reliable and committed to supporting the ethos of our school

The role will involve

  • Supporting children’s learning and development
  • Providing high quality classroom support to pupils and staff.
  • Supporting targeted pupils who need additional help to overcome specific barriers to learning

In return, we offer:

  • A welcoming, supportive school community
  • Well behaved, considerate and happy children who enjoy learning in this well-resourced environment
  • Opportunities to work across different year groups and develop your skills
  • The support of an enthusiastic, happy, dedicated and effective team
  • The chance to make a real difference in the lives of our children
  • CPD opportunities to further develop your knowledge and skills
Closing date

Thursday 19th November 2026 at 3.00pm

Interviews to be held

Week Beginning 30th November 2026

The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be subject to the school’s safer-recruitment procedures and an enhanced DBS check. All applicants will be required to provide two suitable references.
