Job summary

Brookhaven is recruiting a Teaching Assistant to join our team, supporting SEND pupils in our specialist school. You will work under teaching staff guidance to deliver care, support and learning programmes, helping pupils access learning and assisting with classroom management.

We value teamwork, safeguarding, and a positive ethos, with opportunities to develop interpersonal, numeracy and literacy skills while contributing to a nurturing educational environment.

Qualifications

  • NVQ 3 for Teaching Assistant (or recognised equivalent qualification or experience).
  • Some experience of working with children with SEND.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment, understanding classroom roles and responsibilities.
  • Ability to promote a positive ethos and role model positive attributes.
  • Good level of interpersonal, numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Understanding of Safeguarding procedures and promoting welfare and safety of children.

Responsibilities

  • Work under guidance of teaching staff to undertake work/care/support programmes to enable learning access.
  • Assist the teacher in the management of pupils and the classroom.
  • Support learning for SEND pupils in a specialist school environment.
  • Contribute to a positive ethos and collaborative team culture.
  • Promote pupil welfare, safety and well-being in line with safeguarding policies.

Job description

Brookhaven is now looking to recruit for a Teaching Assistant to join their team. We are seeking to appoint an experienced Teaching Assistant to work with the SEND pupils within our specialist school. The main purpose of the role is to work under the instruction/guidance of teaching staff to undertake work/care/support programmes, to enable access to learning for pupils and to assist the teacher in the management of pupils and the classroom.
