Job summary

Edgar Wood Academy is a modern secondary school serving Middleton and Heywood, opened in 2021. We seek a committed Teaching Assistant to support students, including those with additional needs, and help them access learning and realise their potential.

You will work with teachers and support staff to raise attainment, lead small group interventions, and use SEND or SEMH expertise to make an impact while maintaining safeguarding and high expectations for all students.

Qualifications

• GCSEs including English and Maths are required.
• Experience with children aged 11-16, ideally with SEND or behavioural needs.
• Commitment to safeguarding, equality and high expectations for all students.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside teachers to raise the learning and attainment of students.
• Provide targeted support for students with SEND, reducing barriers to learning.
• Encourage independence, self-esteem and inclusion for all students.
• Lead small group interventions and offer mentoring support.
• Use specialist knowledge (SEND, SEMH, literacy or numeracy) to make a meaningful impact.
