Job Description:

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with Autism?

We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and experienced Teaching Assistant to join a resource base team at a lovely school in Maidenhead. This role involves supporting children, including non-verbal students, in their educational journey.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide 1:1 and small group support to children with Autism in a resource base setting.
  2. Assist with classroom activities to promote an inclusive learning environment.
  3. Implement personalized strategies to support communication, behavior, and emotional regulation.
  4. Collaborate with teachers, SEN teams, and external professionals to deliver tailored support plans.
  5. Promote social skills, self-esteem, and independence among students.
Essential Criteria:
  • Experience working with children with Autism in educational or professional settings.
  • Knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder and support strategies.
  • Patience, empathy, and a calm, adaptable approach.
  • Strong communication skills; experience with alternative communication methods (e.g., PECS, Makaton) is a bonus.
  • Team player, willing to collaborate and learn.
Desirable Criteria:
  • Experience supporting non-verbal children with Autism.
  • Relevant qualification in SEN or equivalent experience.
  • Training in Autism-specific interventions (e.g., ABA, TEACCH).
