Job summary

Havelock Academy in Grimsby is seeking a dedicated teaching assistant to support learning under the supervision of a class teacher. You will work with individuals and groups to deliver learning programs and help pupils engage with activities.

You will help ensure pupils access activities supporting their physical, emotional, social and intellectual development, provide regular feedback to teachers, and contribute to a safe, inclusive classroom that aligns with the National Curriculum.

Qualifications

  • Under the supervision of the class teacher, work with individuals and groups of pupils to deliver learning programs.
  • Encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher.
  • Ensure children have access to appropriate activities to support their physical, emotional, social and intellectual development.
  • Provide regular feedback to teachers on pupils’ achievement and progress.
  • Have a sound knowledge and/or experience of the National Curriculum.

Responsibilities

  • Support the teaching and learning activities in the classroom under supervision.
  • Assist the teacher in organizing and managing pupils and the classroom.
  • Promote an inclusive learning environment and safeguarding of all pupils.
  • Contribute to maintaining an orderly and purposeful learning space.

Job description

Support the children attending Havelock Academy

32.5 hours per week - term time only - 39 weeks a year on a permanent contract

Who we are looking for

Someone who can work under the specific supervision, instruction and guidance of the class teacher to support the teaching and learning activities in the classroom.

To provide general support to the class teacher in the organisation and management of pupils and the classroom.

To assist the teacher in creating and maintaining a purposeful, orderly and supportive learning environment.

To promote the inclusion of all pupils, ensuring they have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop.

To be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people within the school.
