Job summary

Oasis Academy Watermead is seeking a Teaching Assistant for a Level 3 Apprenticeship in a vibrant primary school setting in Sheffield. You will support Year 3 pupils in class and work toward your Level 3 qualification through a mainly online learning approach.

The role runs 37 hours per week with shifts Mon–Fri, and training is provided by LMP Education as the training provider. GCSE requirements apply, and training duration is 16 months.

Qualifications

• Must have GCSE Grade 4 / C or above in Math and English.
• 16 months expected duration to complete the apprenticeship.
• Learning delivered online/ remote.

Responsibilities

• Provide pupils with the level and type of support specified by the teacher, whilst encouraging independence and responsibility for behaviour.
• Establish a good relationship with pupils using language and other communication skills that pupils can understand.
• Encourage pupils to interact with each other in an appropriate and acceptable manner.
• Promote positive pupil behaviour in line with Academy policies by praise and encouragement.
• Help pupils with toileting and dressing, paying attention to hygiene.
• Supervise the children’s play involving toys and apparatus and role play under the direction of the teacher.
• Assist with language and other activities under the direction of the teacher.
• Supervise and support activities of individual and groups of children under the direction of the teacher.
• Undertake playground supervision during breaks and report difficulties to staff; supervise dining area and report incidents to the Senior Leadership Team.

Are you passionate about nurturing young minds and helping children embark on their educational journey? We seek enthusiastic, highly motivated individuals to join our team as a Teaching Assistant in our vibrant primary school setting. You will work with children in year 3 supporting them in class.

Key Details

Salary: £8.58p/h increasing to National Minimum Wage after 12 months

Working hours: Monday – Friday (shifts TBC) 37 hours per week

Location: Barrie Crescent, Sheffield, S5 8RJ

Apprenticeship Details – 16 months expected duration to complete, working towards your Teaching Assistant Level 3 Apprenticeship. (All learning is delivered online/ remote).

Training Provider: LMP Education (rated 1st best UK training provider)

As a Teaching Assistant you will undertake education support duties and assist the class teacher in the day to day needs of the pupils in their care, to enable the teacher to implement the curriculum and respond to the pupils’ needs. Your day to day duties will include:

• Provide pupils with the level and type of support specified by the teacher, whilst at the same time encouraging the pupils towards independence and accepting responsibility for their own behaviour.
• Establish a good relationship with pupils by using language and other communication skills that the pupils can understand and relate to.
• Encourage pupils to interact with each other in an appropriate and acceptable manner.
• Promote positive pupil behaviour in line with Academy policies by the use of praise and encouragement.
• Help pupils with toileting and dressing, paying particular attention to hygiene.
• To supervise the children’s play involving toys and apparatus and role play under the direction of the teacher.
• To assist with language and other activities under the direction of the teacher.
• To supervise and support the activities of individual and groups of children under the direction of the teacher.
• To undertake playground supervision during the mid-morning and/or afternoon breaks and to deal with unruly behaviour and, where necessary, report difficulties to a member of the teaching staff. Supervise children in the dining area ensuring good standards of behaviour and manners and reporting any incidents of unacceptable behaviour to the Principal or other member of the Senior Leadership Team.

Must have GCSE Grade 4 / C or above in Math and English
