Fairway Infant School in Copthorne, Crawley, West Sussex, invites applications for a Level 3 Teaching Assistant apprenticeship. You will support EYFS/KS1 children, work with groups and individuals, and assist with resources while developing teaching skills.

The apprenticeship runs for 16 months with online/remote learning and an allocated tutor to guide you throughout the programme. Salary varies by age band and is paid hourly.

Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship - Fairway Infant School

About the Employer

Fairway Infant School is situated in the village of Copthorne, close to East Grinstead in West Sussex. We are a two-form entry school with classes ranging from Reception to Year 2. We strive to ensure that our children are happy and enjoy coming into school each day. We aim to provide an exciting and stimulating environment where children are motivated to learn. We offer a broad and balanced curriculum with a range of activities and opportunities to support the development of curiosity and independence.

About the role

This position requires a person who is able to work with young children, aged from 4-7 years old. The role will involve supporting classes, groups and individual children in EYFS and KS1.

Key details:

• Working week: Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 3.15pm, 31.25 hours per week, Term time only
• Wage: Salary: £8.00 per hour (Under 18), £10.85 per hour (18-20), and £12.71 per hour (21+).
• Location: Fairway Infant School, Copthorne, Crawley, W Sussex, RH10 3QD
• Apprenticeship Standard: Level 3 Teaching Assistant

• Duration:16 months

Key responsibilities:

• Support class teachers to help pupils achieve high levels of progress, attainment, and positive outcomes.
• Assist with selecting and preparing resources for group and one-to-one learning activities that meet pupils’ diverse needs and interests.
• Monitor pupils’ responses to learning activities and adapt support as required.
• Track pupils’ participation and progress, providing feedback to teachers and constructive support to pupils.
• Communicate effectively and sensitively with pupils to support their learning and development.
• Promote and support the inclusion of all pupils in learning activities.
• Apply behaviour management strategies in line with school policies to maintain a positive learning environment.
• Organise and manage learning activities, teaching spaces, and resources safely and effectively.
• Ensure marking and feedback are completed in accordance with school policies.
• Promote the school values of Resilience, Independence, Curiosity, and Kindness.
• Supervise pupils during break times and lunchtimes in both indoor and outdoor settings.
• Provide care for pupils who are unwell or require first aid, following appropriate training.
• Support children with individual needs under the guidance of the class teacher or SENCO.
• Work with Individual Support Plans (ISPs), Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), and Individual Behaviour Plans where required.

Apprenticeship Summary:
