Job summary

Educators Wales is seeking a Teaching Assistant Apprentice to gain hands-on experience in a school setting while pursuing a Level 2 or Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification. The role involves supporting pupils’ learning, wellbeing, and development under teacher supervision.

The apprentice will work with pupils individually or in groups, assist with materials, and help foster literacy, numeracy and communication skills, while following safeguarding policies and school guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Support teaching and learning activities in the classroom.
• Work with individual pupils or small groups, including those with ALN.
• Assist in the preparation of learning materials and maintain an engaging classroom environment.
• Encourage pupils’ literacy, numeracy, and communication skills.
• Provide support during break times, extra‑curricular activities, and school trips.
• Help pupils with personal care needs under supervision.
• Learn about and apply school policies, including safeguarding and behaviour management.
