Job summary

Mendip Green Primary School is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support teachers across the primary age range, delivering engaging and high-quality learning experiences. You will provide academic and pastoral support to help children develop educationally, socially, and emotionally within a nurturing environment.

Experience in primary education, SEND support, childcare or classroom-based learning support is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 GCSEs (Grade C/Level 4 or above), including English and Mathematics.
• Experience in school, educational, childcare or youth support setting.
• Level 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification, NVQ/VRQ Level 3, or an equivalent qualification.

Responsibilities

• Support the planning, preparation and delivery of engaging lessons.
• Work with individual pupils, small groups, and whole classes.
• Deliver targeted learning support to help pupils achieve academic goals.
• Assist with classroom behaviour management and pupil engagement.
• Prepare educational resources and learning materials.
• Support pupils with learning needs, including SEND.
• Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.

Salary and Working Hours

Hours: 33 hours 30 minutes per week, Monday to Friday, 8:15am to 4:00pm (Term Time Only)

Actual Salary: £23,391.16 per annum

About the Role

As a teaching assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting teachers to deliver engaging, high-quality learning experiences across the primary age range. You will provide both academic and pastoral support, helping children develop educationally, socially, and emotionally within a nurturing school environment.

This role would suit candidates with experience in primary education, special educational needs (SEND) support, childcare, or classroom-based learning support.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the planning, preparation and delivery of engaging lessons.
• Work with individual pupils, small intervention groups, and whole classes.
• Deliver targeted learning support to help pupils achieve their academic goals.
• Assist with classroom behaviour management and pupil engagement.
• Prepare educational resources and learning materials.
• Support pupils with a range of learning needs, including SEND.
• Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
• Promote safeguarding, inclusion, wellbeing and positive behaviour.
• Help create a safe, stimulating and inspiring learning environment.
• Provide classroom cover and supervise learning when required in the teacher's absence.

Essential Requirements

• Strong commitment to safeguarding and child welfare.
