Job summary

A leading educational institution is seeking a proactive Teaching Assistant to support the SEND team at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic High School. The ideal candidate will possess NVQ Level 2 or equivalent and have strong literacy and numeracy skills. Base pay range

Saints Peter and Paul Catholic High School is a vibrant, creative, and innovative school community with high expectations and aspirations for its students and staff. The school is now seeking a proactive and motivated individual to join the team as a Teaching Assistant.

Key Responsibilities

• Working within the SEND team to cater for student needs, learning and development.
• Supporting individuals’ development in learning and their literacy and numeracy, physical, SEMH, communication and sensory needs.
• Developing individual learning plans for students and reviewing these documents regularly.
• Enhancing students’ self-esteem, confidence, resilience and sense of worth.
• Providing feedback to teachers regarding the work completed and students’ attitudes and behaviours.
• Keeping records of work undertaken with students that shows evidence of impact and progress made towards outcomes.
• Creating an orderly, positive and purposeful environment in which students can complete work.
• Undertaking appropriate training and CPD.
• Invigilating internal and external examinations when required.

Skills and Experience

• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification in a relevant field.
• Very sound literacy and numeracy skills.
• Proactive, self-motivating ability to work independently and in liaison with other colleagues.
• Good communication skills with the ability to build relationships and challenge and nurture students.
• A commitment to developing a positive, diverse and inclusive Christian ethos which values each individual and challenges any form of discrimination.
• The ability to be creative and engaging with students and motivate others through personal influence and concern for individual needs.
• An unceasingly optimistic approach and a sense of humour.
• Staff room (with free tea and coffee).

Hours: 37 hours per week, term time only.
