Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking Experienced Secondary Teaching Assistants to support pupils in Bristol’s secondary schools from September 2026. You may engage in day-to-day supply, long-term roles or permanent positions, across Bristol and surrounding areas.

We welcome TAs with prior experience supporting secondary-age pupils and confidences managing classroom behaviour. A dedicated consultant will guide you through registration and placement opportunities.

• UK school TA experience preferred.

The Opportunity

As a Secondary Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside teaching staff to support pupils with their learning, development and engagement in the classroom.

You may provide one-to-one support, work with small groups or support the wider class depending on the needs of the school.

The successful candidate will be confident supporting pupils who may display behaviour that challenges and will have a calm, consistent approach to behaviour management.

You should be confident building positive relationships with pupils, maintaining appropriate boundaries and supporting teachers to create a safe and productive learning environment.

Your Responsibilities

• Supporting pupils across a range of secondary year groups.
• Providing one-to-one and small-group learning support where required.
• Supporting pupils who may display behaviour that challenges.
• Using a calm, consistent and positive approach to behaviour management.
• Working alongside teachers to support learning and classroom activities.
• Helping pupils remain focused and engaged with their learning.
• Supporting pupils with additional learning needs where appropriate.
• Building positive and professional relationships with students.
• Following school safeguarding, behaviour and professional policies.
• Communicating effectively with teachers and other school staff.
