Job summary

Monarch Education is seeking enthusiastic Teaching Assistants for a SEND primary school in Dudley. You will support Primary aged pupils, including those with SEMH, ASD, ADHD, and trauma-related needs, in a welcoming setting.

Role involves 1:1 and small-group support, and collaboration with teachers and SEND professionals to promote learning and well-being.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people.
  • Experience in school, care, youth work, or support settings.
  • Resilient, patient and capable of managing challenging behaviour.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils 1:1 and in small groups.
  • Build positive relationships with children and young people.
  • Support students academically and emotionally.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
  • Help pupils engage with learning and achieve goals.
  • Work closely with teachers, pastoral teams and SEND professionals.
  • Use behaviour management and de-escalation techniques.
  • Act as a positive role model and advocate for young people.
  • Create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

Hours: Full-Time, Monday to Friday (8:30am - 3:30pm)

The setting supports pupils who may have experienced challenges within mainstream education and may present with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism (ASD), ADHD, trauma-related needs, attachment difficulties, anxiety, and challenging behaviour.

Whether you are an experienced Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, Youth Worker, Support Worker or Learning Support Assistant, this could be the perfect next step in your career.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Teaching Assistant, you'll play a vital role in helping pupils develop confidence, resilience and a positive attitude towards learning.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with children and young people
  • Supporting students both academically and emotionally
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Helping pupils engage with learning and achieve their individual goals
  • Working closely with teachers, pastoral teams and SEND professionals
  • Using behaviour management and de-escalation techniques
  • Acting as a positive role model and advocate for young people
  • Creating a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment
We're Looking For Someone Who:
  • Has previous experience working with children or young people
  • Has experience within a school, care, youth work or support setting
  • Is resilient, patient and confident managing challenging behaviour
  • Builds strong professional relationships with pupils
  • Can remain calm under pressure
  • Has excellent communication skills
  • Is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning
