Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant in Stevenage who can provide practical support while helping pupils do more for themselves. The role focuses on pupils with additional learning and communication needs, making classroom activities accessible and enabling active participation in school life.

You will support learning individually and in small groups, adapt instructions, help pupils communicate needs, support literacy and numeracy under teacher guidance, and work

Qualifications

• Experienced SEND Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant
• Experience supporting autism, learning difficulties or speech and language needs
• Ability to describe strategies used and the impact of those strategies
• Reliable communicator who works well with teachers and other staff

SEND Teaching Assistant

Location: Stevenage, Hertfordshire

Pay: 100 per day

Knowing when to step in-and when to give a pupil the space to try independently-is a valuable skill. We're looking for an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant in Stevenage who can offer practical support while helping pupils do more for themselves.

The focus is on supporting pupils with additional learning and communication needs, making classroom activities accessible and helping them take part in school life.

What the role involves

• Supporting learning individually and in small groups.
• Adapting instructions and resources to suit pupils' understanding.
• Helping pupils communicate their needs and make choices.
• Supporting literacy, numeracy and individual learning targets under teacher guidance.
• Working with the class teacher and SENCO to review what is helping each pupil progress.

Who we'd like to hear from

• Experienced SEND Teaching Assistants or Learning Support Assistants.
• Candidates with practical experience supporting autism, learning difficulties or speech and language needs.
• People who can describe the strategies they have used and the difference those strategies made.
• Reliable communicators who work well with teachers and other support staff.

Experience with Makaton, PECS, visual resources or targeted interventions would be welcome. Please highlight any relevant qualifications or training.
