Job summary

Darwin School in Shrewsbury is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support students’ learning and social development. You will help create a positive, nurturing classroom environment and contribute to student wellbeing.

You will work 1:1 or 2:1 with students needing extra support, assist with tailored activities, and collaborate with teachers to maintain an organised, calm and engaging learning space. This role offers training and development opportunities and a supportive team atmosphere.

Position: Teaching Assistant

Location: Shrewsbury, Shropshire

Hours: 40 hours per week

Salary Details: £23,370.40 per annum

Darwin school is looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our team and help students thrive both academically and socially.

The school:

Darwin School is an independent school in the county of Shropshire, we provide education for students aged 8 to 18 who have suffered trauma enabling them to realise their potential and through personalised support, achieve their goals.

What you will be doing:

• Supporting students learning and social development inside and outside the classroom.
• Working 1:1 or 2:1 with students who need extra support.
• Helping to set up engaging activities tailored to each student’s needs.
• Supporting teachers to create a positive, organised, and inspiring classroom environment.
• Reacting to classroom situations with calm, constructive, and professional guidance.
