Job summary

Beer CofE Primary School in Seaton is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support learning on a 1:1 basis. The role is a fixed-term contract until 31 August 2027, term-time only and 38 weeks per year, with the specified hours.

The successful candidate will work under the direction of the class teacher, have KS1/LKS2 pedagogy knowledge, and demonstrate patience, clear communication and a calm, nurturing approach to help pupils reach their potential.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children in KS1/LKS2 settings.
• Strong communication skills and patience.
• Ability to work under supervision and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support to a pupil.
• Assist teacher during lessons and activities.
• Help with behaviour, routines and safeguarding.

Teaching Assistant - Beer CofE Primary School

Contract Term: Fixed term until 31/08/27 (post is related EHCP funding for specific child)

Hours: 28.75 hours per week - Monday - Friday 08:45 -12:00 & 13:00 - 15:30

Salary: STC Grade 2 - NJC Points 4-7 Starting Salary £17,019 per annum (£26,016 FTE)

Term Time only - 38 weeks per annum

Start Date: ASAP

Closing Date: 6pm on 26th November 2026

This is an exciting opportunity to join Beer C of E Primary School, part of St Christopher's Multi Academy Trust. As part of your role, you will be working as a 1:1 Teaching Assistant.

Beer C of E Primary School is led by a very passionate Head Teacher and aims to actively encourage the curious nature of its pupils. The school was built in 1978 and has grown to support its 100 pupils, on a beautiful site, benefiting from exceptional sea views. The pupils are well behaved, and the school’s values of Joy, Kindness and Courage are embraced by both staff and pupils alike.

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate a calm and patient demeanour and is committed to helping young people achieve their full potential. Ideally, you will have had previous experience in working with children in a similar setting and be able to effectively communicate with adults and children alike.
