Job summary

Mana Education is seeking enthusiastic Cover Supervisors to work in Peterborough and surrounding areas. You will supervise classes during teacher absence, ensuring pupils stay focused and complete work prepared by the school.

No lesson planning or marking required, but you’ll need clear communication and confident classroom management. We welcome experienced cover supervisors, teaching assistants, graduates and tutors with relevant experience.

Contracts: Day-to-day supply, short-term, long-term and permanent

What does a Cover Supervisor do?

You'll supervise classes during a teacher's absence, helping pupils stay focused and complete work prepared by the school. This is a classroom supervision role, with no requirement to plan lessons or mark work as a teacher.

Your responsibilities may include:

• Explaining the set tasks and checking pupils understand instructions
• Maintaining a calm, productive classroom
• Managing behaviour in line with the school's policy
• Encouraging participation and helping pupils stay on task
• Taking registers and following school procedures
• Collecting completed work and providing feedback to teaching staff
• Reporting safeguarding or welfare concerns promptly

You may cover different subjects across KS3 and KS4, with sixth-form opportunities depending on the school. You don't need to be a specialist in every subject.
