The School

Our client school caters for pupils with a range of SEND, including PMLD, ASD, and SEMH. It is a nurturing environment for pupils aged 5-11, focusing on independence and skills for life. The school emphasizes social, emotional, and mental health needs, offering a topic-based curriculum and specialized intervention groups to support various developmental areas.

Responsibilities

1. Attend to pupils' personal needs, including social, health, hygiene, first aid, and welfare.
2. Establish positive relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and responding to individual needs.
3. Promote inclusion and acceptance among all pupils.
4. Encourage pupil interaction and engagement in teacher-led activities.
5. Prepare and clear classroom for lessons as directed.
6. Monitor pupil progress and report to the teacher.
7. Support behaviour management and report difficulties.
8. Assist with learning strategies such as literacy and numeracy, supporting teaching activities.
9. Supervise pupils outside lesson times, including before and after school if appropriate.

Requirements

Applicants should demonstrate:

• Experience supporting young people with SEN and learning difficulties, preferably in an SEN setting.
• Experience helping young people overcome personal, social, or learning barriers.
• A nurturing, empathetic approach to behaviour management.
• Physical and emotional resilience to support pupils with SEMH and SEN, recognizing behaviour as communication.
• Experience supporting teaching and learning activities and assisting with lesson organization.
